A: There are 180 multiple-choice questions on the examination.

Q: How can I study for the written examination?
A: AAAE will provide all candidates in the certification and accreditation programs with the study materials necessary to prepare for the written examination. These materials are called the Body of Knowledge modules.View a detailed outline of the course objectives. Know these and you'll be prepared for the exam.
Candidates may wish to contact the SCC-AAAE Accreditation and Certification Academy, which offers a week-long intensive course in this subject matter. For more information about this intensive review course, please see the answer to the next question.

Q: Are there any supplemental classes that I can take to assist me with the test?
A: Yes. The SCC-AAAE Accreditation and Certification Academy in Dallas, TX, offers a week-long intensive review course for candidates in the accreditation and certification programs.Before registering for the course, you must first apply for membership in AAAE and enrollment in either the accreditation or the certification program. These two applications must reach AAAE's Accreditation/Certification Department at least 30 days before the week-long session begins. The written exam is offered at the end of the session. Q: When and how can I take the AAAE written examination?
A: Any AAAE member enrolled in the certification or accreditation programs can (1) take the examination at various AAAE conferences, workshops, and seminars, (2) have the examination proctored at their airport, local college, university, or high school, or (3) take the examination over the Internet. Those who choose to take the exam on the internet are supplied with the exam's URL and an access code. The online version of the exam is also proctored. Therefore, candidates who prefer to take the exam online must make the same arragements as those who choose to take the exam in the paper version.
The examination is also offered at both AAAE's Annual Conference and the National Airports Conference.

Q: Who may proctor the examination?
A: The examination can be proctored by one of the following professionals: a college professor, a high school principal, an active accredited A.A.E., an AAAE staff member who is not enrolled in either the accreditation program or the certification program. If a professor or high school principal happens to be a candidate in either the accreditation program or the certification program, he or she is not eligible to proctor the exam. Candidates must first contact an eligible proctor to decide on the date, time, place, and preferred format of the exam (Internet or paper). The proctor must then send a letter of request on his/her letterhead clearly stating your name, member number, date, time, place, and preferred format of the exam. The signed letter must reach the Accreditation Department at least two weeks before the day of the exam.

Q: How long will it take to receive the test results?
A: Under usual circumstances, AAAE will send test results to candidates one week after receiving the test from the proctor. Those who choose to take the exam online can view their preliminry test results immediately upon completion of the exam.

Q: If I don't pass, how many times may I retake the examination?
A: All candidates can take the written examination as many times as it is necessary to successully complete it. We recommend that they wait at least three months between each retake. Candidates who fail the exam the first time must pay a $75 fee each time they retake the exam.
